In this episode of Beyond the Clock, Ash and Anna are joined by Adrian Molina, aka Molina Speaks, an artist, poet, and creative organizer with Warm Cookies of the Revolution, and Jessica Chacon, a psychotherapist, movement educator, and healing arts practitioner based in Colorado's San Luis Valley. Through their work with Future Town, an initiative of Warm Cookies of the Revolution, a civic health club, Molina and Jessica are helping rural communities imagine and create their own futures through art, culture, ritual, and collective creativity.
In this conversation, we explore how communities can draw upon their cultural traditions, ancestral memories, and everyday practices of gathering to imagine futures that honor where they've been and where they hope to go.
Molina and Jessica share stories from their Future Town collaborations across Southern Colorado, where everything from bilingual circuses and football tailgates to community ceremonies and skate parks can become opportunities for connection, healing, and civic participation. We consider how memory lives in our bodies and communities, how ritual can help us hold grief and possibility, and what happens when we create space for people to dream beyond the limitations they've inherited.
Molina and Jessica invite us to consider what it means to become good ancestors, embrace radical imagination, and recognize that the future of rural communities is already taking shape through the relationships, creativity, and care we practice today.
