Ignite Rural Spark Series: Sureeporn “Suree” Sompamitwong

Wednesday, March 25, 2026

4:30 – 6 PM CST

Online via Zoom!

The Spark Series is a public listen and learn webinar series highlighting the continued impact of Ignite Rural alumni who have expanded their creative work and are emerging as leaders in their fields.

Each Spark webinar will invite one Ignite Rural artist to share deeper reflections on their journey since completing Ignite Rural and have time for Q&A with attendees. They'll share about how their creative practices have grown, the communities they work with, and what's next on the horizon.

Join us in these 90-minute webinars as we listen to the impact of how investing in civic artists contributes to creative leadership, community building, and growth.

Sureeporn “Suree” Sompamitwong is an artist, community leader, and founder of Creative Healing Space, a nonprofit dedicated to using creativity as a pathway to healing, connection, and community empowerment.

Originally from Thailand, Suree immigrated to the United States as a child and grew up navigating multiple cultures and identities. After experiencing a life-changing mental health crisis, she turned to art as a way to process her experiences and rediscover purpose.

In 2019, she founded Creative Healing Space to create a welcoming environment where people of all ages can explore creativity, build connection, and support their mental well-being through art. In 2022, she launched her fashion and art platform Art Invasionz through an Artist-in-Residence program with the Department of Public Transformation. In 2024, she was selected as an Initiator Fellow with the Initiative Foundation.

Suree is also preparing to launch her upcoming memoir, Broken Heart into Art, which shares her journey of healing, resilience, and transformation through creativity.

The series will also be accompanied by written blog features by Ignite Rural artist, Andrea Duarte-Alonso, who will capture the stories shared.

Ignite Rural and the Spark Series is generously supported by the Jerome Foundation.
